Some feedback from coworkers includes:
“I have only worked for Kids Klub for a little bit over 5 months now. In those 5 months, I have been treated with respect and kindness by everyone, especially Derrick. No matter what is going on in Derrick’s life, he is always there for you and someone you can count on. There have been moments in my life where I have struggled, and Derrick has helped me so much. He’s always ready to go to work with a big smile. He might be having the worst day, but he still is laughing and dancing with the kids. I’ve said it before, but he truly is a light in a dark room. If you are sad, he’s right there with his dad jokes to cheer you up. Even though I miss Ramona, Derrick is an amazing operational admin. He is not afraid to jump out of his comfort zone, especially when it comes to the kids. I am so grateful to have met him, and that he is in my life. He is one of those people, who you’d want in your life forever.”
“They rock and roll! Always steps up to the plate and looks at the job as more than just a job!”
“Derrick is so deserving of this award because he exemplifies the Kids Klub action statement: Learn. Teach. Repeat. Be the Team. Deliver Excellence. Derrick is constantly looking to learn more skills while simultaneously improving his current skill set. He is so supportive and helped us keep our sanity during vacation weeks! He is thoughtful and kind to All human beings, and tries his absolute best while at work. Derrick is always putting smiles on faces, both adults and kids alike and isn’t afraid to be himself, which is a beautiful quality.
My hope for Derrick is that he will be properly recognized for all the hard work and dedication he has put forth in this job! He is truly one of a kind”
Shout out to all the Nominees!
Mason Ziroli
Mason has been a fantastic addition to the Greystone team!! His perspective as a former Kids Klub Greystone student is very helpful when talking about ideas for the site, as he is able to recall things he did and enjoyed as a student himself. For this being his first job, he has done a very good job and he carries himself as if this is his fourth or fifth job.
One of my favorite things about Mason is how he is aware of areas that he struggles in. He knows that he doesn’t do the best with remembering names, so he is always quizzing himself on the kids names as they come in because he knows how important it is. He isn’t afraid to share his opinion too, a trait that is very important for him to be building up at such a young age.
Alicia Gloria – Kids Klub
Alicia is not only one of the hardest working people in this company, she’s straight up one of the most hardworking people I’ve ever met. Her ability to juggle all of the different tasks she needs to accomplish is already extremely impressive, but her ability to adapt and come up with solutions on the fly is extremely admirable and is honestly second-to-none. Every time I read a text message or get off of a phone call with someone either calling out or being late, I get notification from Alicia before I can even open up her contact to get to her. On top of all of this, Alicia maintains a positive energy and spirit that makes every conversation with her, even the not fun ones, a pleasure to have.
Tiffany Tinkham – DDC Cumberland
Apart from being an amazing administrator, I’m also incredibly lucky to call Tiffany my mom. For the past 14 years, just a little bit of time less than I’ve been alive, she has given Dr. Day Care Cumberland all that she has. From attending Dr. Day Care as a young child, to now getting the privilege to work under my mom, I’ve been able to witness just how much Dr. Day Care, the faculty and staff, and the children mean to her. As time naturally causes ups and downs, I’ve been able to witness all of the challenges my mom has worked through on the job and watched just how well she managed not bringing them home to me, making sure she is still the best mother, yet solving the problems, assuring that all things run smoothly. She somehow manages to have the best interest of the parents, children, and staff in mind all at once, being the most aware that life looks different for everyone, making it so that everyone has different wants and needs. She is able to make accommodations for everyone because she knows what it’s like to be a person that struggles. Everyone does at one point or another, but somehow going from a teacher, to an administrator, while also being the most amazing mom and family member, she has made all of those struggles look easy. Compassionate, kind, and beautiful are just a few words that describe my mom. She has somehow never failed to be any of those things.
Alisha Heistand – KK Stephen Onley
I started working at Kids Klub when I was 17 years old. I am now 18 years old. I was treated terribly at my old job, and they took advantage, because of my age, so I was terrified it would happen again, I am happily able to say I could not have been more wrong. Even though I was a kid, I was treated with so much respect, and I wasn’t defined by my age. One person in particular who gave me a chance was Alisha Heistand, the operational admin at Stephen Olney. I first met Alisha when I went to get CPR certified. She was kind and welcoming, but I of course kept my distance. I would see Alisha at Greystone when she was covering a staff member. She always greeted me with a smile, she also would complement me on how I was doing a really good job, as a teacher’s aide. She told me I was good at running games, and that made me happy. I started to become comfortable around her and started to let my personality out. She never judged me. I remember one day in particular, I was sent to McGuire last minute, and I was stressed out that day, and when I saw that Alisha would be working with me, my day instantly turned around. As I was still learning, Alisha would teach me all the important things about Kids Klub. She decided to take a chance with me, which I am insanely grateful for. Kindness is such an important thing, but what is also important is how well you can do at your job. Alisha is so inspiring. When I get sent to Stephen Olney from time to time, I get to see her in her environment. She cares so much about these kids. She in my opinion goes above and beyond for her job. When she’s sick, she still comes in and pushes through. She also runs these cool enrichments, like the bullying one. There was one morning when I was sent to her site, and we both got to play this game with a few kids, and we were laughing and just having so much fun. During February break, she was running around with the kids in the gym, and we all were having the time of our lives. I have a very hard time trusting people, but I trust her completely. I am really happy that I can call her my friend.
Ashley Fontaine – DDC Cumberland
Ashley is a huge part of our school family as she is a staff member and parent. She is a teacher assistant in the infant room and is certainly our go-to when Ms. Emily isn’t here. Ashley provides love and care to our students and families as if they were her own. She has demonstrated our mission statement. She is extremely reliable and is always willing to learn. She is a joy to work with and I am so grateful she is a part of our team.
Lauryn Wholey – KK Bernon
Lauryn is a great asset to Kids Klub Bernon and shows leadership by doing in a quiet effective manner
Cassidie Pierce – DDC Pawtucket
Ms Cassidie jumped on board and has been fully hands on with a how can I help, what can I do mindset. She is very attentive to teachers needs and is always there when we need help from switching laundry and bathroom breaks to carrying tables down the hallway!
